    revival of a old header

back in the day, i ordered a pasesteer exhaust for my hatc from nopi. long story short i had a dx coupe and they sent me lxi coupe stuff. i ran the exhaust system on my hatch after hondaman87 made a slight adjustment to the exhaust pipe for me. i never really drove the car. anyways, as we all know, the pacesetter headers need to be recoated to last, i dident recoat mine. after i stop using the car they rusted.

    fully rusted state

here it is after i wire brushed it with my rotor tool and air compressor

i picked this stuff up from work, works great. i also used pb spray, a wire brush, and some sand paper

here is the de rusated header

and finally the header after it was washed with soap and 3 coats of 1200 degree flat black paint

Let me know how hard that EGR pipe is to get off & post some pics after you take it off. Would like to know. Here is a post in your other thread too.

as you can see the piping nut is chewed up. i forget what i had trouble with but it dident want to come of the factory pipe i think it was. hopefully this one comes off no problem. i am going to clean up all the holes and get new o2 sensors.

You saved it from cancer, Looks good ! Are you going to keep it, or sell it ?
I am in the market for a header, But don't have a lot of extra cash at this time. I have an 89 lxi parts car, Would you trade the header for any particular part, or parts ? That is if you aren't kepping it.

It'll take a medium size pipe wrench & getting the EGR nut cherry red with a torch (propane or welding) to loosen it up. Tighten it first & then try to loosen it.

fair warning, to get the EGR off of my DC, which was driven alot but never left to rust, it busted the whole peice off of the manifold, it had to be retapped and the elbow welded back on.

Re: revival of a old header

I coated my stock manifold once when it was still on the motor... I cleaned it up, ran the car and sprayed the duplicolor on and it hasn't peeled.

I think I should have done the same to my custom header.
