How do i install rear lower tie bar

ok so i bought this tie bar from ebay (it was only 10.99 and i wanted to sped some money lol). now is it as easy as just put it over the sheet metal on the that holds the arms from the rear together? do i have to remove anything?

    here are some pics

    the egay tie bar:

im supposed to just remove the bolt (yellow) and bolt the tie bar up against the sheet metal (green) right?

then that means that it would look something like this right?

this is how i think it is installed...but then again...what do i know? lol thats why im asking! so if im right...cool..if not HOW DO I INSTALL IT?

    thanks guys!

I don't think that can be it. That doens't make sense. Braces should brace something, not just run along an existing brace.

Yes that looks like the correct place. If I remember right you may have to trim some of the frame under the trunk to install it, since it will hit in the center.

Re: How do i install rear lower tie bar

yeah i had already seen that i have to trim the damn thing. so this means i have to wait until i get to work, since i have all the proper tools there. the bar raises about an 1 1/2" when i put it flush against my table.

thanks Eric. actually if im not mistaken you did this mod too right? do you have pics? or did you use justins bar?

edit: i remember there being a thread about how to do this somewhere i just cant freaking find it! anyone know where it is?

see the problem with the existing brace is that it feels like sheet metal. i mean get under your car and you can actually almost bend it with your fingers! at least i can on my car. plus i have researched the dc bar to see if it looked the same on a 90 accord and it looks the same. the only ones i have seen a difference on is the integra ones...i think they actually replace the whole arm.

So wait, you have to cut the frame in order to install this brace?

Actually its not the frame, it is the bottem of the trunk. You can just beat it in with a hammer install the bar, then hammer the metal back over the bar.

Here's what Justin's bars look like (there are 2 bars he supplies):

    .
    .
When you remove those bolts on the lower arm to mount the tie bar, it is a bitch to put back on. Have a crow bar ready or a friend to help you push the wheel so you can jiggle the holes to line up for the bolts.

You shouldn't have to cut anything, just wedge the bar into place. I just pounded it past that rubber bump and it fit fine.

Came w/ the Suspension Techniques sway bar.
If I were to do it over... I'd probably get the AADCO rear bar, it's a little larger.

Re: How do i install rear lower tie bar

OK! so after two fucking hours of trying to put the damn bar on, i give up! yep i did say two fucking hours. my only guess is that the "bump" we're all talking about is different in the coupe. it seems that you guys that have installed one of these all have 4drs. cuz i know i have been hammering the damn bump in and it wont freaking bolt on! the bar is higher at the points were it bolts on. unfortunatly i dont have my camera to take a pic of it to show you what im talking about. the bar looks kinda like:

    \_________/

the justin bar seems to be just a bar with no bends or joints like this one. maybe thats why it was easier for you guys to do it. anyway im going to take a pic of the "bump" tomorrow when im off of work. if one of you (that has already installed one) could do me a favor and take a pic of that bump and how you got around it, that would be great. cuz if my theory is "correct"....there is a difference between the coupe's and the sedan's.

oh well i guess ill give it another try tomorrow

Here's a closeup. I have an 88 sedan. I just don't think the bar you got is going to fit w/ those end brackets.
