cool! youre going to love the coupe...especially a stick shift! shit i know i do
Yeah ive driven a few.
I can definately tell the difference in the weight distrobution(and reduction, god i didnt know the auto trannies in these cars weighed so much), and the added power (efi over carb)
There's a difference in weight distribution? How so?
Auto trannies are heavier than manual ones.
Thus an auto 3G would have more weight up front than a manual one would.
I wouldn't think it would make that much of a difference as far as weight goes.
However, auto tranny's suck more power, so it probably feels hella faster.

You're probably right, but it's the only explanation I could think of for weight distribution. Weight distribution only affects cornering, if they're just talking about acceleration, than weight distribution doesn't really come into it.Originally Posted by Deadhead
Eh.... not by much though. I think a full tank of gas would affect your weight distribution a lot more than the difference between two transmissions.Originally Posted by speedpenguin
That's what I was thinking. Distribution between the two should be nearly identical. POWER, however, would be more with a manual, and it might weigh a little less, which would give a better power/weight ratio.Originally Posted by speedpenguin
also with no rear door's there is a significant waight loss
does anyone have the curb waight of a stock coupe and a stock 4dr and hell for f*** sake the stock of a hatchi

I can't remember the curb weights and don't have time to look right now, but you can find it if you search.
Here is what I can tell you:
The 2-door is the lightest, hatch is in the middle, and the 4-door is the heaviest.
well i figured that much i was just putting some info into the pot on if there was a big diference in waight Distribution between 2 and 4 dr there the 2dr would be more front heavy then rear due to not having the rear doors and a 4 dr might be a little more even
its all the same to me driving different accords, weight distribution-wise. It only when your crazy enough to put a B16 is when you feel like your driving something different.

By the way, whats a good deal for an 89 coupe in ok cosmetic and decent emchanical condition?
I wouldn't pay more than 2K for any 3G, period.
Maybe 3 grand, but only if it's a fresh, low-mileage, 5-speed, SE-i.
Shit I payed $800 for my coupe and fixed the engine. Good deal.

I just checked the specs and they're within 100lbs of each other.
wow so the rear dors on a 4dr are like 50 pounds each
actually, i think the hatch is heaviest...
We're not really going to know until someone digs up the specs are we?
I remember someone posted them on here a while ago.
And I mean a REAL long while ago.
It's in the PDF.
there's no way the hatch is heavier!
and i thought that the reason MT's were faster is because the camshaft is narrower in the AT or something
It's in the FAQ.
