    eBay struts, KYB or Tokico?

First off I know that the KYB GR2s are not even real "performance struts", but I have heard that they are much better than stock ones. My question is are the GR2s really a large difference over stock? And if any of you had them before can you tell me how much difference there is between stock, KYB, and Tokico? Thanks.

I upgraded to the KYB GR2's in 2005 and love them!

    the car corners better.
    the ride is ALOT better.

So for the money I like the KYB's!

I got mine from this guy: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/KYB-G...spagenameZWD1V

kyb are worthless if you are trying to have a lowered car, tokico is only slightly less worthless. what is your plan for lowering?

well these are the only ones i can get for my car...i have sprint springs that lower the car 2.25 inches and i was going to get the KYB but they are OEM replacement and then i heard that the Tokico are 10% stiffer so it would not bottom out. does it sound like a good set up?

well I'm not going to lower the car, or if I ever do I will find the least amount of drop that I can. So considering stock height what would you guys go with? I'm really thinking KYBs.

I have KYB GR2s and I love them too. For stock height they are great. No complaints here.

the tokicos are the only "performance" strut we have available. the rest are stock replacements, even the bilstiens that we send of to be revalved.

NO the KYB are just stock replacements not better, not worse, this has been said over and over in this thread. I don't know of anybody that has used the Gabriels, but i would be weary because I purchased some of those for my old Legend and they were completely the wrong strut.

don't civic struts change the ride height or something like that though? And do they need any modification to install?

there is page after page on this stuff.

search for stuff in the suspension section by zupher, busted blue, and legend master, they have all participated in threads about this.

u really need to use the ADVANCED SEARCH OPTIONS, i swear it works...

short answer: yes u can use civic shocks, no its not a direct bolt on in the front, yes its a direct bolt on in the rear, yes it will change ride height substantially, so u better have adjustable coilovers, no its not a perfect solution.

Hey, maybe I'm not that picky, but I have been happy with my Monroe Sensatracs that I installed in 1998 - 100,000 miles ago. The shop I like refers to them as "Sensa-Craps," but the ride is great. I am at stock height.

If you have money to spare and a set of extra spring/struts you can send them to tein and they will make you a full bodied coilover. They started this program a little while ago.

anyone know if I can just get STIFFER springs instead of ones that actually drop the car?

damn, lol. I don't like dropping cars, just making them handle tighter. Especially since I have 195/60/R15s, when supposedly 195/55/R15 is the highest you can go on these cars. Mine has never scrubbed even once, but I believe that is because of my stock ride height also.

stiffer springs would raise the car a small amount.

Re: eBay struts, KYB or Tokico?

you can always buy the stuff that i have:

    TOKICO HP blue shocks
    TOKICO 1" drop performance springs

its a nice drop and the car certainly handles better! shit i can take some snail off ramps at nearly 70mph without worries! the stance of the car is great and its actually pretty confortable but with the sporty bounce. if you have ever ridden an e36 m3 and loved its stock suspension....you will definetly love this. and yes i am THAT confident that anyone will love this setup, as much as to compare it to a BMW!

if you click on my sig you will see some pics of the stance and the shocks themselves

anyone know if a car with that setup ^ will handle my 195/60/R15s without scrubbing? I think they probably would scrub, that's the only thing.
