    My Black Accord...

    Hey guys...
I used to hang around here a bit, i had a white b18a 3gee, but i sold that and went off on a Nissan-based tangent.
Ive still got my nissans, but in needing somthing that doesnt require a fill every 5 kilometers, i decided to look for somthing a bit more economical - so why not another accord!
I havnt taken many pics. I did have some spare time but then some white powdery stuff got dumped on us

It used to sit at this height... until i got yelled at by the police lol

And yes i loooove my leather

    A20A4

My crappy mags, with no front shocks

How it sat when i picked it up

And my Blue parts car, now looking considerbly sadder since this pic
As many of yours are, its still work in progress, but let us know what ya think

it looks like the trim level says "EX 2.0i"

that charcoal leather is superfly! and black is definitely the color for accords

    Re: My Black Accord...

I guess you could call it the NZ version on the SEi, Its an EXi, and the badge does say EX2.0i - the top of the range NZ made ones. Its got everything except aircon. So its not JDM, but i got that jdm pats car to seal all the good bits off lol.
It needs a bit of tidying up in a few places, but cheers guys, im pretty stoked with it

I might b20, and id love to turbo it, but i gotta do a bit of work on my other cars, and sell somthing to get space lol. My only major plans at the moment is new wheels and lowering

definitely a nice ride ya got there.. agree the wheels need to go haha they're not bad but too round for the 3gee

also it looks like it's already lowered in the front but not the back?

    Re: My Black Accord...

Haha yeah thats where it gets complicated...

All nz 86-89 accords have the taillights like that, the orangey corners, and the bumpers, like you see in the second pic. The JDM 1896 ones looked like this, and then 1987-89 had the smoked corners and the more "strip" style tails, and upgraded bumpers, kinda like (some of?) your USDM ones.

Hope that makes sence... i can do a wee picture story of the NZ/JDM 3geez if you are still lost lol!!

ahh.. i thought the bumpers looks like our "DX" bumpers.. doesn't really matter for a black car though hehe

and yeah i'm sure you'd have no problem unloading any extra tails you've got

    Re: My Black Accord...

    lol ok, story will come

And i know where some JDM square (like my current ones) tails could very well be. unfortunatly only the main, outer ones, but with my experience the center bits on the boot lid arnt interchangable

Forrest, if you are interested i could try and find out if they are still available if you want? any other parts inparticular you want? I got a whole JDM one sitting here lol. Freight might be a bit though, i sent some smoked corners to mikes89accordlx a few years ago, and i think that cost about $NZ30.

However when mike recieved the lights they apparently had a crack in them - i packaged them well, so i wrote away to the shipping company about some compensation, and they replied, telling me that i needed pictures. I asked mike (A few times) but i never recieved any pictures or heard from him again? Everything was sweet but i hope he isnt too pissed off about it - is he still around? Id like ta know what happened in the end lol!

Frantik, yes thats a good way of describing them, your dx bumpers were all black like the lower spec nz models, whereas the higher spec nz models and the older 86 jdm models had the same bumpers, but the lower half was painted the body colour, and the top just stayed the black plastic.

Ill get a few photos together and try and describe it to the best of my ability lol

    Re: My Black Accord...

Heres a bit of the lowdown on the whole NZ/JAP 3gee thing...
The captions relating to each picture are the ones above... for some reason it wont let me space everything out nicely??
The Basic NZ made accords, Pretty much the same as an american poverty pack DX, but with the big square "JDM" style lights...

EArly JDM 1986 - Lower half of the DX style bumpers painted, orange corners and front indicators, and the square style tails. Varing trim levels

Later JDM 1987 to 1989 - Smoked corners, newer style bumpers, and the "strip" style tails, again, varing trim levels

Higher spec NZ models - had painted lower half of the bumpers, the square style taillights. Some came with partial leather and full leather. However no aircon...
And just for interests sake, an early JDM with a presumably factory kit

And back in whatever year it was they won the gran-prix, Honda decided to celebrate with an "F1 edition" accord (I THINK that they are only in the older jdm style - my mums friend has one )

Well i hope this explains a bit... i know ive probably missed a bit out, but hopfully this explains a bit. any questions just ask lol

I find it doubtful that it's a factory kit.

Really nice pics, though. I'm thinking of getting the half-rubber bumpers for my hatch.

Of course I'm lazy. If I wanted to work on my car I'd have gotten a DSM

that f1 accord interior looks pretty nice. but not nice enough for me to get one shipped from overseas. it's just too bad they held out on stuff like that here in america. it would've been a winner for sure.

weird ever since this thread i've been noticing the painted DX bumpers on lots of other cars including canadian ones. weird they werent in the US ever (or were they on the 86-87 LX/lxis and im just tripping?) i like the notch out of the front where the grille is but they looks kinda "fat" compared to the newer ones

And yeah i cant say ive really noticed many A20 injecteds around... it does look pretty sweet with no suspention in it, but highly impractical lol!
The f1 interior is quite nice... kinda velvety feel. But IMHO leather pwns

    Re: My Black Accord...

    A little update:

I know there will be some hate, but i only got these 18s for $NZ450 including nuts (about $277 US) and they are the perfect fit 215/35 and the ride is qute good considering the low profile... And the car is sitting on Low Kingsprings - they were only $nz100 but they still look standard height
    Comments?!!?
