He's been selling those things on ebay for a long time but I don't know if it is actually the real thing. It definitely looks like it from the outside but I don't know. They do look nice tho!

Well untill we find out who makes it I don't think we will know if its the real deal.

    http://www.epa.gov/OMS/cert/factshts/catcvrts.pdf

Some so called high flow cats are resonators... but that one isn't. You wouldn't see the screen, instead you'd have straight through pipe and the bulge and in the bulge tiny corregations.

A test pipe is a pipe with no bulge but takes the place of the cat.

So this one may or may not be a cat.
You can buy cat meshes I found them while I was trying to track down cat makers, mainly focusing on those in china.

    Re: ebay high flow cat

    uh...sure

the guy at the muffler shop will just look at it and not think twice about it cuz it looks like a legal cat. and magnaflow's website says that it is...so to answer your question...yes.

Go with Random Technologies, they get good praise from auto enthusiasts. Just search around.

If you want to install a cat to have a cat then go with RT, if you want a test pipe buy a test pipe.

    Re: ebay high flow cat

found dude's web site.. you can buy it for a dollar cheaper if you want haha

Thunderbolt cat's are designed to give high performance in limited spaces. This high flow converter features a ceramic brick with 300 holes per square inch. This 100% EPA legal catalytic converter is designed for engine's up to 5.9L / 6000 lbs. (Not for use in California)

    Part # - 410225
    Length - 11"
    Body - 4" Round
    Inlet - 2.25"
    Outlet - 2.25"
    Brick Type - Ceramic

    http://www.performance-curve.com/ind...OD&ProdID=1058
imo the ebay listing is kinda deceptive.. it's not totally clear it's not for use in california

In that epa link it says there is supposed to be a number stamped on it if it is a legal cat.

Required labels on the converters will have a series of letters and numbers and be in the
    following format:
    N/XX/YYYY/ZZZZ for new ones
    U/XX/YYYY/ZZZZ for used
    where N - indicates a new converter
    U - indicates a used converter
XX - is the manufacturer's code issued by EPA
YYYY - is usually a numerical designation of the vehicle application or
    part number
ZZZZ - is the month and year of manufacture (i.e., "0187" for January 1987)
Note: Converters manufactured for sale in California may have the letters "CA" in place of
the "N" or "U". Since California standards are more stringent than EPA's, these
converters will also meet EPA requirements.
