Well, I PLAN to attend (I never know if I have to cover an emergency and take off). I don't know what to bring cuz you all got most of it covered. Maybe I can bring a 12-pack of Coke? It won't be the diet stuff because I don't drink that). I saw somebody bringing soda but maybe he'll have Diet stuff and then he won't have to lug so much to the meet. Also, I cased the area and took pics of China Beach(dunno how to post them). There is only ONE BBQ pit at China Beach. There was a whole family that overtook the picnic area (looks like it was reserved) -- I'm trying to find out if reservations are needed, OK? When they say "picnic facilities," they're talking about a few table-benches around this one BBQ pit. I also took pics of Fort Point. The fog started coming in around 3:30PM. If it's going to be like today, bring windbreakers. Man, where'd all the people come from today?!? Parking lot was full at China Beach. It was only slightly better at Fort Point. Everything in SF has a fee of sorts & I'm not sure if you use that area if you have to pay a fee...I'll find out what I can for you.

i suspect it's first come first serve.. what time were you there? maybe we should have a back up location as well. that park i posted before looked like it had bunches of tables, but it's on the south side of SF away from the good pic spots
we also need to figure out some good picture locations and/or places to cruise. i liked struggles suggestions
At China Beach, there's room for 2 groups but only one set of tables has the BBQ pit. If you choose that other park, I ain't going (too many shootings there). There are other picnic tables near Fort Point and near Baker Beach and there's always Speedway Meadow in Golden Gate Park (pretty sure you need reservation there to use the pits). Also, if I can post these dumb pics I took, you'll see just how scenic these 2 spots are. If you can't get a BBQ pit, you'll be eating raw meat unless that's your current diet. lol

post the pix! and did any of those other places u mentioned have pits withou reservations? or do you know how to get reservations?
If I can figure out how to post the pics, I would...or ??? I will call to find out about pit reservation when the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA) office guys are working (Monday-Friday) since those areas come under their jurisdiction...No need to stress...yet.
