    Exclamation EXI Speaker help please!

So while there is so many people online right now, I was wondering what speaker size my EXI takes in the rear deck, most places only tell me about LXI models, and when I look on car domain it says EXI and 6x9's but as far as I can tell it doesnt look like its made for 6x9's, any help would be appreciated

    Re: EXI Speaker help please!

is it a four door or s a two door?

four doors i believe are 6.5" and 2 doors are 6x9. now if you get some really big speakers you will have to modify the pieces for them to fit. i had to do it in my coupe both rear and front speakers. a dremel is your best friend.

oh and just in case the fronts are 6.5 shallow mounts or you can get a full speaker but you will have to modify the basket. i had to cut everything from it making it just a ring to fit my infinity woofers in there

It's a 4 door, and I was all set for the 6.5's in the reardeck, but then cardomain fit test says its 6x9's, so now im confused, I already tossed some 5 1/4's in the doors. I think its 6.5s too, but the car domain thing is throwin me off

yeah...its easy to check...just look at your rear deck, if you have oval speaker pods, then they're 6x9's. if it looks more square then they're 6.5"

Well I know that all 1986-87 LX & Lx-i's came with 6.5" speakers in the rear.
and according to my brochures 6X9's were NOT a option for 86-87's

Most 88-89 LXi's that i've seen came with the 6x9 speaker pods.
now if you do want to use 6X9's in the rear speaker pods from 88-89's are
fully interchangable for any trim level.

The USDM LX = the CDM = EX
    The USDM LX-i = the CDM = EX-i

From my experience, that is correct. My 86 has 6.5's in the rear while all the 88-89's I have come across have had 6x9's in the rear. I am not sure if there is any difference in the rear deck itself, it's probably the plastic pods that make all the difference.

Here. It's the "Speaker Size" sticky at the top of this section.
