I think wetsanding would be WAY to much work.

You can get paint jobs for pretty cheap now, so just paint it.

Well if you can't afford $800 you could always get a rattle can at your local AutoZone for $7.00. The can even says "Matches OEM Color!"

But I would advise against it.

    Re: paint question

Since U wuv U car (your here aint ya) , and if it were me, and Yea I was 16 at one time and had a vw bug ( a fast) and not much $$ ( the more things change the more they stay the same) I would go to the local library and check out the books pertaining to my car, and painting and read up on the subject. You can get some good buys on personal use power tools at Harbor Freight Tools. Get a 'random orbital sander' electric with 6 inch pad and get on the car with some 220 grit on the worst parts then go over the whole car with 180 grit , on the orbital sander of course. Pay attention to your trim ( dont sand them unless your gonna paint em) and contours, do not break thru to bare metal if you can help it. Then only if you want , go over the whole car again with wet sanding 400 grit by hand or sponge block. You can get a gravity feed spray gun at the afore mentioned store for around 20 bucks, Pep boys has em too. These tools are cheap, but are clones of the real deal and work well for a do it yourself project. You can to the local napa or automotive paint store and pick out a primer you like.Save up some sunday papers and get some 3m masking tape. Primer looks better than muckered up paint. yes? tools and all less than 100 bucks (though the primer can make it a little higher depending on what kind you get.)

    Re: paint question

Oh I forgot to mention you would need a small air compressor for the paint gun if its pneumatic. the gravity feed type gun use very little air pressure so your not talking about any big deal compressor. I have used two air tanks and a lectric tire pumper to spray primer in a fix.
