    Re: automatic?

i have an auto, it sucks sometimes, but then again driveing around on a normal day i would get sick of shifting around in stop and go traffic, none of these cars are worth throwing money into unless you do it to have fun, i have done a cat back, blaster coil, plugs and wires. and i have a test pipe and headers waiting to go in and my custom air box is almost ready to go in.

    Re: automatic?

I'm with labeledsk8r ^^^ I commute 100miles a day in stop and go traffic I'd really hate it if I had to shift all the time.. But it's just a matter of opinion if I had no commute I'd swap over

I have an auto. I have a CAI, SS 4-1 header, test pipe cat, 2 1/4" exhaust, 8mm spark plug wires. Soon to have new head with a b18 intake mani and koyo radiator and a better flowing muffler (the pacesetter it too restrictive). But im swapping over to manual soon, im just waiting on some parts, lol.

all i can say is ADD A TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER! if you don't and you're hard on your trans, then you WILL burn it up.

my dx is auto...i like that car since its nice and simple...plus when i pick up girls i dont like to shift since of the shift jerk on manuals....youhave to shift like at 2500 so you dont get any shift jerk....plus that is too damn slow...i just have a K&N filter, 8mm wires, platinum 4+ plugs and some syntetic oil...it runs fine i get like 400 miles per tank and i drive 75 on the freeway...my Lx-i is a 5 speed and its way fun but yeah on stop and go trafic it sucks

    Re: automatic?

Mines an auto. Ive done suspension, wheels, carputer, and other minor stuff. Personally i would prefer an auto most of the time since i drive a lot and dont want to shift all the time. BUT i do use that shifter all the time, downshifting and everything, it scares the girls when i do that, hah

But anyways if your car is in good condition dont be afraid to mod it when it has an auto, just dont make it rice. Us who mod our cars and have an auto already have 1 point closer for being rice. lol

    Re: automatic?

I personally like my auto. The car I think it worth fixing up if you really like your car. The 5spd is good for off the line, but if you are sitting in traffic, it can get tiring shifting gears all the time. My 89 had a 5spd in it and I HATED traffic with it. The auto isn't so bad, I just have to pump my brakes to come to a stop (soon to be fixed) :P

    Re: automatic?

i have an auto. my mods so far are a modded civic sri and dc sports headers. i have a full exhaust in the garage, i just haven't felt like putting it on yet. but my tranny was on the way out before i put on any performance mods and i think the gains in power have only sped up that process. so i think i'll swap it before it's completely gone. probably put in an accord/teg hybrid tranny to make the most out of acceleration and fuel economy.

    Re: automatic?

my 3g is an automatic, it has five ratios, four gears plus lockup converter. I love it, beats ridiing the clutch in traffic which I hate about my 5 sp civic. If you get an auto out of an 89 model it is a lot better auto than 86-7. When the tv cable is adjusted and tune is just right it is just fun as heck to drive. these are good tranmissions, but note that you can drastically change the shift quality just by using different brands fluid, that has always been a strange thing to me about Honda automatics. If you into revving it in neutral and slamming it in gear to burn out, do not expect much life from it, as with any car.

    Re: automatic?

Meh we should make it triptronic. LOL

I have an auto too, kinda love it kinda hate it on the highway cause i have to go pretty far on the gas to get it to shift down.

and plus i'm already driveing with both feet in an auto (yeah i know i'm weird.)

but it's more comphy for me and i think it's safer me and father both do it. but it's really because i wanna a stick shift.
