    My 3rd gen Accord

I picked up a 88 Accord LXi 5 speed for $500. It has about 236,000 miles on it. When I got the car I knew it needed some work. So far I have replace the both rear struts and both the lower bushings for the struts, front right wheel bearing (which I got the honda dealer to press in for $40, lol). Did a tune-up (NGK plugs, air filter, oil change and filter, pcv valve, cleaned the EGR valve, adjusted the clutch cable). Still need to replace a bunch of seals and gaskets, cause sadly she leaks oil (not too bad though). 5th gear syncro grinds a little, but not too worried about it yet. My dad took it for a test drive today and found out that the left upper ball joint is bad, and the spring is also broke at the top. So far I have put about $270 into it, not including the newly found broken items. I am happy with the car, just wish I would stop finding stuff wrong with it. I love Hondas, used to have a 92 Prelude, man I miss that car.

Welcome to the site. I've got a set of springs for sale if you are interested in fixing that problem and lowering the car at the same time.

    Re: My 3rd gen Accord

Thanks for the welcome. I have been busy the last couple of days so that why it took so long to reply. Been out working all across the state of ohio. Anyway updates on my car. New struts - Monroe Sensi-Tracs and variable-rate springs - TRW (horrible powercoating) all around, new mounting hardware and bushings for the front - OEM Honda, Driver side [ upper control arm - Three-5, outer tie-rod end - TRW ]. Just have to replace some more bushings and my suspension should be good.

(Note: I had gotten this car from a kid that did not know much about cars, he decided to remove the air intake, and he thought that he could put a breather filter on the motor. So I had to put that clear hose in temporarily, and now have to find a nice intake or an oem one.)

    Re: My 3rd gen Accord

I just came across a post https://www.3geez.com/forum/showthrea...ght=air+intake that looks pretty simple to do, instead of trying to bend my own, or to piece one together.

Lorain, Ohio just 2.5 hours north of columbus, 30 minutes west of Cleveland. I used to live down there but moved back up north for a job.

    Re: My 3rd gen Accord

I got sick of looking at the paint flaking off of my valve cover so I went out yesterday and got some high temp. paint. It was a pretty easy project to do. Although I must warn a little time consuming. I would have taken pics of the whole process, but didn't think of it til the end. Let me know what you guys think of it now.

(Note: Yeah I know I am missing the ground wire in the pic.)

    Re: My 3rd gen Accord

    Thanks guys.

ghettogeddy - That polished cover looks tight. Must of taken a while to to that.

MessyHonda88dx - When you go to take the paint off your valve cover use a product call "Dad's Easy Spray" Paint, Stain & Varnish Remover. You can get it at Home Depot or Loew's. Spray it on and in minutes the paint just melts off. Word of advice this shit is strong, so don't let it get on your skin or anything you don't want to mess up. Its best to use it outdoors cause of the fumes. Good luck with your valve cover
