    tire pressure

i am sure this has been a well debated topic, but what tire pressure should i be filling my tires at. Honda says something like 26psi but my tires say something close to 44psi. These are stock steel wheels on a 1987 dx.

44psi is too high...i fill up my tires with 32 pounds.

    Re: tire pressure

I used to go with what the tire said, but I only go with 26. If you do the calculation using the load rating of the tire at max psi you will find that 26 is just right for these cars. I found that using higher pressure did not help fuel economy or wear on the tires and only made the ride harder. But, it really won't hurt anything to use 32. It's more of a personal preference.

    Re: tire pressure

most tires have a max psi of inflation which is 44 psi. I forget whether its is cold or hot reading, but 44 psi max is pretty much on all tires Ive seen.

If you have wide tires on aftermarket rims it does give slightly bettet gas milage by increasing the psi. I run mine like at 34-36 psi cold.

    Re: tire pressure

on my 13 inch stock tires i kept them at 30psi and i notice the overinflation tire wear in the middle of the tread. It wasnt that bad but you could tell the tires were over inflated. I would say anywhere between 26 and 30 psi for stock 13s.
