I'm not new to honda's, but i am new to the old school accords. As I have been reading some of the posts on here I want to find out everyones opinion is. I've got this car coming over here in a couple of weeks and I need to find out. It is an 85 carb accord
a20? check out 2ndgenguy....he has a a20 in his car with a weber.

yeah...my friend has a 85 SEI so its already fuel injected...but too bad we have no b20s since you have them all...so send some over in a raft....il catch him here...and il send you some flip lights cuz you car looks like a civic...front and a accord back

No it's not an A20 or an A18. My engine is an ES2. I've got an A20 I pulled from an 87 that is in the process of being torn down for rebuild. But an A20 block is externally identical to an ES2, so the swap is pretty straight forward. I DO have the Weber on my ES2, and that is a nice way to upgrade your car and make it simpler and easier to work on. The vacuum circuits and control boxes and tubes and crap get in the way when you're trying to do ANYTHING on your engine. I highly recommend swapping to a Weber. It's simply too easy, and makes things so much simpler. Plus you have more options when geting it tuned. You can go to a shop and say, "Hey I need my carb tuned!" They won't go "sorry don't know shit about those old Honda carbs, they're a nightmare." They'll say "oh Weber yeah okay." Well at least you'll get more people with Weber knowledge.
And yeah a B20 will bolt in the same way it does into a 3gee. Theres someone here from Dominican Republic who has done it. I think he's the first. I would do it if it wasn't such a pain in the ass to find the engine and find parts for it. A20 with Weber just seems to straight forward and simple, at least as a first engine project. Maybe after this, I'll hunt down a B20.

so what all am i going to need to put a b20 in this 85 accord. will the mounts fit up, will the axles work. i know that i will have to do wiring, but o well.
I thought the Prelude B20's won't work. If I recall correctly they're mounted at a different angle or something like that... I thought thats mostly why the 3geez either keep the A20 or wind up going to the JDM B20A. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Also, from what I've just read, the 2g Prelude transmission will bolt up to the A20 or ES2/ES3 engine, and has the same axles / splines / lengths as the ES2... so that would be an easier performance transmission swap.
first of all can you even get a b20? then find out the rest...

i've got a guy in cali that has found me 2 or 3 of them. i'm not new to motor swaps in honda's, just these old school accords. I was wondering if i could do a b16, b18, ls-vtec, or b20-vtec instead of the b20a due to the parts availabilty. i'm just trying to figure out what is going to be the best swap to impress my customer with. I've seen 3g's with em in there, but I want you guys opinions
Oh you're talking about the JDM B20A... then the mounts should mount right up. I think the trouble is trying to keep power steering and A/C. If you get a manual steering rack and don't mind that and not keeping your A/C then all you have to tackle is the Fuel Injection conversion and the axles. There is a 2g hatch with a B20 in it thats been posted here on the forums. I think he explains what he did with the axles, and some other good information.

Well the newer B-series would definitely be a better swap. Unfortunately no one makes swap kits for our cars anymore. Only one that did was PlaceRacing and they are now out of business. So you have to do everything custom yourself.
That car in your avatar looks to be WickedAccord's. You should look into his car and see what a B-series really does to our cars. He's got a turbo b18 in that thing pushing about 350+ hp if I remember correctly. That car is truly wicked.
