no, you have to take off your bumper. that can be done by unscrewing all the screws that hold it to the bumper itself. there's some on the top of it, some on the front behind the grille area, and some underneath. i don't remember where all of them are. and when you do it, try not to break the piece that connect that bumper to the wheel well lining. because that gets annoying after awhile.
and frantik, i hope you plan to put some type of by-pass valve on that. i know how bay area winter storms can be.
