    an idea for my build...

so as some of you know ive been wanting to turbo my car for a while now. well im getting a lot of parts together. now i have an idea for the turbo manifold. what i have thought about is using my pacesetter header, then where the downpipe is supposed to bolt up i would make and adapter for a pipe to make a 180* turn back up to the turbo. what do you guys think?? am i being clear about what my idea or no?? give me some thoughts on this.

My Dad and I thought about that too... The problem would Be that the Turbo itself would sit way too low and if you ever bottomed out bad things could happen to the snail. So we ruled that out and then Elijahs Manifold came up and I snagged it.. Oh and if you are talking about bringing it up vertically I dont see how that would work either becuase the Oil pan is there.

I dunno, it might work, seems to me the header might be a bit too flimsy to handle the heat and the weight of everything, but if you rewelded all of it and supported it, it could possibly work. the problem i thought of is where do you have room to route the downpipe if you have manifold where your downpipe was supposed to go?

well im using a small turbo something like a t25. im not planning on mounting it down where the down pipe bolts up. my idea is to have something like a j bend pipe to come back up and mount the turbo. havent thought about the downpipe yet. what about doing this with a stock exhaust manifold, thats a strong bitch right there

i think in general with any of these ideas you might run into problems clearning the front of the engine bay, if you go with a 1/2 wide civic radiator that is a good start, but i think you will still run out of room.

well, lets see, you pay abot $200 for pacessetter header (unless you have one to start with). you have to make J bend pipe. bolt it up and make sure you have someking support for turbo. it is possible, i guess it would work like ram horn style manifold. Just make sure you get small turbo.

i have an extra pacesetter...you would need to weld it up cuz its cracking at the joints....

I say pacessetter would flow better over stock.

2.25 should be fine to the turbo, but from the turbo i would go 3"

The only thing i see a problem with would be the down pipe..
If you do decide to build it use the 2.25 inch pipe to the turbo and header-wrap it, to keep the velocity of the exhaust up and temps down..

I was thinking of something like that with my header because its a 4-1. I was just going to weld the collector to the top of the header where it connects to the down pipes. Look at my car domain for pics.

you can probably make one simular to this one...
you'll need to get 4 more 90's though.

that mani is for a b series civic.
I think that you can fit something like that with a 1/2 size koyo and loosing the pwr steering pump & ac.
heres a few pics of it in a hatch.

the good thing about building something like this is the simple fact that you can tune the header to what ever rpm you want, and widen the power band.
