    ST sway bar is rubbing

Does anybody with the ST sway bars have this problem. It is doing it on both sides. The sway bar rubs against one of the lower control arms. Here is a picture of where it is rubbing.

Was it suppose to be adjusted some how, cause I cannot figure it out.

I was under the impression that it didn't fit right with the SE-i rear brakes and that you could either have one or the other? I could be way off on that, and I don't know how one would really affect the other, but I thought Steve had posted about it earlier.

That can't be, I am running 86 LX-i lower control arms and LX-i whatever the arm is called that connects to the sway bar.

I wouldn't mind, but every time I hit a bump it makes a rattling noise. It really should not make a difference, but I am kinda anal about my car. I guess I might just Mod the lower control arm.

That was the Addco rear sway bar.

That was my first thought, but wouldn't you think that would have been thought of when they designed the bar. I mean this item is suppose to be used to stiffen the body roll and that kinda goes along with upgraded suspension. I think I might call them and bitch, if that is the case.

    Stock arms, stock drums.
If the rubbing is that bothersome, how about just filing the arm a bit where it's making contact, or take it to a muffler shop and they can knick off a tiny bit w/ a torch. I don't believe a small amount removed would affect the integrity of the arm. I would first remove the ST bar and see if it can be repositioned a bit. Or can you add a washer or two for more space?

Are you really surprised that they probably didnt think of it? So many of these aftermarket companys rush to produce parts and dont really road test them for extended periods of time.
Calling and bitching about a part they probably dont even make anymore is just going to get you even more angry.

Re: ST sway bar is rubbing

Comparing your pic with paso's, it looks like your endlink is shorter than his. Or maybe you bolted it in the wrong hole perhaps? Is there a hole lower than the hole you current have it thru?

Also, looks like your lower control arm is installed backwards, you need to flip it over facing the other way. The curved side facing back. That curved side is probably what's hitting the sway bar.

Re: ST sway bar is rubbing

Well, since there is no answer. I suggest you take a die grinder & grind out some metal on that rear control arm above the sway bar. (just enough for it to not hit)

Its not that it is to short, it is the angel that it sets the bar to. To much towards the control arm.
