    Re: Short ram??

i think it's actually only like one bolt that holds the wheel well cover. if you just need quick access it works fine... but i really think for installing a cai it's gotta be 10x easier without the bumper there. but whatever no need to start a holy war over it

Just curiouis as to why, will it not fit or does it reduce the fuctionality after this point?

you lose a lot of bottom end torque if the diameter is too wide

As far as from what I've read with a bigger diameter intake you will lose your low end torque but it will aid top end.
This article should help you out if you havent seen it yet

    Re: Short ram??

thats weird. the filter itself doesnt have the k&n logo like they normally do...it just says k&n in some gay block letters lol. hmm i unno if i would trust that.

anyway, the shape of the filter really doesnt matter, i mean its just to "filter" out any debris from getting into the intake itself. that one looks to be alright. myself, i prefer the cone ones or the HKS looking mofo's. i like the HKS looking ones because the filter is foam and it really is just a foam piece up against the piping. which really doesnt change the flow...not that a filter does. at least i dont think so. the cone ones, well that just looks "right" ya know what i mean? lol. but this one here seems to be fine and should work fine. now i dont know if it will fit though. maybe email them and ask for a measurement on how long it is. i think my cone filter is about 5.5 inches long, if that helps

anyway, i really prefer the way the 6th gen intake looks. and from my experience, it sounds, and performs better. it just seems that with the less bends in the piping, its more of a straight flow. then again it might just be me.

    here's what im talking about

    ebay link 1
    ebay link 2
    ebay link 3
    ebay search results link

    Re: Short ram??

the cai I got off ebay for the 90-93 teg wasnt the right one i dont think, 1 piece instead of the 2 peice that was shown. Has anybody had a major hiss through their air filter even at idle? when i shut it down you can hear a major hiss as it stopps, as if its letting all the air out of its gut

    Re: Short ram??

My custom sri makes the same sound, if its idling it sounds like its sucking in air like crazy then i turn it off and it sounds like it exhaling, i dont think its a problem since mines been doin it ever since i had it, i can hear the same hiss, but very, very faint as my friends firebird is turned off so im guessing its no big deal, sounds cool IMO
