are you gonna use your jcwitney u bend for the intake or stick with that blue one? You should make the intake and paint it black like everything else
your engine bay finally looks right now that the clutch cable is there![]()

2000 Montero Sport 4x4 (beater, trail rig)
That thing is CLEAN!!
WOW dude. Just wow. I'm elated to see it all coming together, although I'm sure I'm not as excited as you are.
Things started to go well today, the weather was great everything in the engine compartment tightened and connected, My buddy and I got the wiring done for the reverse lights and everything was good.
We finally finished double checking everything and adding fluids to the car around 6:30 today, Crank over the engine with the coil disconnected to get the oil pumping, connected the coil and she fired up on the first hit and sounded very strong.
Now this is were it goes bad, I shut it down after letting it run for about 5 seconds and we notice a huge puddle of oil under the car. FVCK I think and hope it's a screwed up rear main seal, the leak is between the trans and engine.
Anyone else have any idea what it might be, did we miss something on the back of the block? is there some kind of oil galley plug back there like on a Chevy small block.
Ugh...I am so tired and frustrated, I feel so much like giving it up, but I wont let this little setback hold me back...
Just had to Vent.....![]()

Sorry to hear about the oil leak! I bet you get the header Monday. I will send the downpipe as soon as I can find a good and safe box for it. I'm going down to get new bolts for my header to bolt to the downpipe. I'll get you some if I do. You will need a gasket where the header meets the downpipe to. I used a gasket from a subaru my friend gave me last time. I'll look into it and figure out which subaru it's from. It's a solid copper gasket which works better than the paper ones. I can't wait to see the header on that clean beautiful engine!
Got this today in the mail![]()
Big Thanks to Bitesize![]()

I don't recall but a couple freeze plugs on the back side, one on the head & maybe one on the block. Did you look at the end of the crankshaft for a ring worn by the old rear main seal? I have had to sleeve the crankshaft from this before. (not on these Honda Accords)
When installing the rear main seal, it is supposed to be lubed with grease on the inside. So it doesn't wear a ring on the crankshaft & start to leak. Anyhow, you'll see what is going on when you pull the transaxle out.
