You can rent spring compressors but make sure you get the right one, our coils are pretty close together so normal domestic spring compressors don't fit between the coils.

I picked up my spring compressors at Harbor Freight for like $12. But they're like the domestic-style so they might not work on the 3g. I'm sure you can find some that will work somewhere for maybe $20-$25. I can't imagine them being that expensive...
Places like advanceauto and autozone have free loan-a-tool kits and a spring compressor is one of them. All you do is buy it from them and they give you a special receipt that says its a loan and when your done with it you bring it back and they give you back the money or you can just keep it and they keep your money. I use their stuff all the time, but i usually end up keeping it because the prices are fairly cheap.

thanks a bunch. i havnt purchased my coilovers yet or struts. im looking at the ground control coilovers and probably the koni or toki's blue. (i think thats how you spell it) havnt decided which one

good luck finding the konis the tokicos are the easyest to get i have drop zone sport coilovers and tokicos and there slammed to the ground and it rides pritty good if ur planing on going out to picos to do it i come out prolly in my gf 89 lx lol my car will be down for a while due to having to smog lol but ill come for sure and me and pico know exactly what to get to keep the rear perches seated at the right hight and it only cost 5-10 bucks and a trip to home depot
yeah get the tokico blue...they run like 200 bucks on ebay...and then get some coil overs or some lowering springs....so far im liking the way my car drives....you are welcome to check it out since im in san mateo

yeah it should not be hard at all. i ran into some probs but pico helped me.

yeah our car uses shocks not struts but tokico only sells one product which matches our cars

i paid like 200 for my tokicos and like 40 for my coilovers but u can prolly get away with everything for about 300-350 depending on what coilovers u get maybe more if u buy expensive coilovers lol b
