    Edm Ecu Update!

Let me just say that even though the ECU is throwing a code 11, and the PGMFI light stays lit. The EDM ECU brings a remarkable amount of spunk back into my 86 LX-i. It runs better too! It idles at about 1000-1100 RPM's which is a bit high, but when I get on the accelerator it moves! If you know how to adjust the idle speed let me know, preferably with a picture of the spot where the adjustment needs to be made.

Before my EDM ECU I would have to wait for the car to warm up before I could go. Otherwise when I came to a light or a stop it would idle down, shake a little idle up just a little (100-200 RPM lope), and repeat until for no reason at all it would realize that it's trying to idle to low. With the EDM ECU that problem is gone! It idles where it should until it's warmed up and then gradually normalizes to 1000-1100 RPM's!

    Re: Edm Ecu Update!

I think the EDM ecu bypasses any emissions systems that the car may have, so if your old ecu made the car have that "Up, down, up, down" idle, then your problem was somewhere within your emissions control system.

I have a carbed car, and for the longest time, my clock wouldn't work, but it didn't bother me. I decided to check the fuse one day and found it was blown and replaced it. I found out that the "ecu" and clock are on the same fuse. Call me crazy, but the idle was smoother and the car drove totally different with this one fuse replaced. It seemed like the power band had shifted or something. And I thought the carb'd ecu did not effect the car at all.

i would think if there was a ecu that wouldn't effect the car at all, it would be utterly pointless

Well I found one way to fix a problem, lol. Thanks for the info. Yeah I had an 87 LX-i that the clock didn't work on. I never thought to check that fuse. It had a loping idle, but the idle loped significantly 600-800 RPM'S! But the clock in my 86 Accord works thankfully. I'm thinking either EGR, or 02 Sensor may be the problem on my 86. But I'm not too worried about it now. Again, thanks!

I will let you guys know what kind of mileage that I am getting with this ECU. It is definately worth getting if you need a little extra kick. And it seems like I'm spending less time in each gear. Of course with this extra power I'll more than likely lose gas mileage, lol. But I'll keep you all updated. This tank may not be completely accurate because about 10 miles of it is on my old ECU. But will see...

Is it really the same thing? I have nothing to compare it too. I would really like to know. Thank you.

i was just messing with you....but yeah i dynoed my car with the map sensor and i got like 2 more hp and 4 foot pounds of torque...but like a 20% loss on fuel efficiency

    Re: Edm Ecu Update!

Well before this ECU I was getting 37 MPG. LOL, I wonder how it would run with a 4G map sensor and this ECU combined. 50% fuel efficiency loss, lol. Oh and I wouldn't doubt that this ECU mod is similar to the map sensor since both result in more HP, and worse gas mileage; even if you were messing with me. Your probably right. But my question is, which is worse? And how would the car run with both mods?
