somebody else post if your low fuel light comes on at 12 gallons, that is really good to know if it is, That means I can drive three more days on the low fuel light !!!!![]()
You have to take in account that the unit inside the tank is old, so it will not read as accurately as it did when it was new.

According to what i've read in the manual, the fuel light is supposed to come on when there is less than 3 gallons in the tank. The gauge is supposed to read the top 10 gallons so you have a 6 gallon reserve when the needle is on E. So it sounds like for the most part that it is functioning as designed.
I can also report that my gas light turns on and I will fill the car up and only put in 11-12.5 gallons. The gauge has never gone completely to E though, and I don't want to risk that.

IVE NEVER HAD THE LIGHT COME ON, didnt know it even had one, im gonna throw some gas in a can and drive it till it runs dry and see how far it goes
Wow i always thought they were 13 gallon tanks. I don't think my light works either but i've never had to put more than 13 gal. in at one time it's been below the E but not to the bottom.
"Weight is relative to power like time is relative to speed"
most cars with have 5 or 10 liter reserve once the fuel light comes on
never had to put more than 45 in mine which would point at about 50l tank
cant be stuffed workin that into us gal but thats bout 11 or 12 imp gal
Mine has always taken about 12 gals when th light comes on.
My light came on today just before I got to the gas station and it took 12.9 gals
Yep the light is not really bright and it is in a place on the dash that is not easy to see normaly. I guess it would be at night though.
hmm.. well.. i never knew that we had a gas light.. well i just put 12 gals in my car..and i had no light.. and yes i was riding in the dark.. so either my light doesnt work.. or i just dont have one..lol but heyy who knows.. i always fill up when i have a quarter of a tank left..
one day I'll return.
Mine also does the same. My gas light never comes on. I can only put 11gal when empty. When the needle gets down to very close to E, the engine will slightly miss. I think the old fuel pump is having hard times maintaining fuel pressure if the fuel level is too low. I also suspect there may be lots of deposits accumulates at the bottom of the fuel tank too.
I got it from the glove box manual for my '89 Accord SE-i. Don't know whether it applies to other models.
really? ill search online for the readable manualthanks for the help.
I found out the hard way the low fuel light on the DX does not come on. I was in the middle of the interstate, with concrete barricades on both sides. I barely made it to the beggining of the off ramp, otherwise there was NO median on the right. It was a great day for my brake lights to stick too..

I guarantee that won't happen again, I was VERY lucky.... that easlily could have been disasterous, three more feet back and I would have been in the road and at the time, traffic was buzzin by so fast I couldn't get out of the car for several minutes, I was thinking,, dam Im dead. That string of red light in the picture is a car going by,, whoosh.
Interstate 20 is under construction there and there are blocks all on the sides.
