On mine I dont even have to lower the boot just unscrew the old shift knob off.![]()
i got it off but the boot ripped and the new knob didnt fit lol.
Nice one. The aftermarket shift knobs usually come with like adaptors to make em fit. Did your knob include any extra parts?
oh Ic it's off another car that's why it wont fit.
you can use a shift knob off a 1st gen legend, IMO they look alot better than the stock accord shifter
a shift knob off an 88-91 civic si looks very close to the 1g legend imo
if you want aftermarket go with a skunk2 knob...i love mine...good for fast shifts

You can use a shift knob off of any Honda or Acura (new or old) since they all have the same thread diameter/type. Most manufacturers have different thread diameters for shifters which is why that cougar shift knob doesnt work on your shifter.

200+ ALL MOTOR LS VTEC
Did cut the shifter down in size, or did you have to move the ball any? The reason I ask is the one we got for my sons 93 DA. The shifter was the same size, just the ball was in a higher spot. Well hell if you did it, and with all the posts that you make on here. I could just go find the thread.

If you wanted to, you can always just tap out the threads to 12x1.25 (I think that's the thread diameter/pitch for our shifters) on the inside of the Cougar knob. If the diameter is too big on the Cougar, you can either cake the threads up with JB Weld, then tap them, or drill out the inside to eliminate the threading, then put some wire screening, sandpaper, or some other material to shim it, or fill it with hard setting silicone caulk and work it on the shifter.
Post up a pic of what it looks like.
