Throttle sticks causing idle to be high

Anyone have this problem? When I accelerate then stop my idle will be high. If I pull up on the gas pedal from behind it'll bring the idle down. Seems like something is sticking somewhere. Car feels alittle sluggish. It may just be me cause I'm use to faster cars.

Yeah there should be slack on the cable at idle. Some people use the cable as an adjuster and you should not. Also your TB plate might need a good cleaning with solvent, rags and your fingers (not while running of course).

I was having the same problem a while back. I lubed the various parts of the throttle cable, (where it goes through the firewall, pedal assy, throttle linkage ect)- worked good but it came back 2 days later. Then the car kicked out a code for the throttle position sensor. I smacked it a few times with my flashlight and its worked great for the last month. I picked up another tps at the yard just in case for when this one gives up the ghost.

I'll try to loosen the throttle cable and see what happens. I was also thinking I need to clean up the TB. Thanks for the help I'll see what happens and give the end result. Hopefully I won't have to replace the line.

Most likely the cable. Check for breakage at the firewall and be sure it's routed in a way to minimize sharp bends.

It fells sluggish cause its an auto.

Both of my Accords had broken throttle cable housings there. The OEM replacement part was about only about $20.

Re: Throttle sticks causing idle to be high

Well I did adjust the cable and it does idle lower. Just seems like its alittle stiff so I'm going to order a tb gasket and clean up the blade. Hopefully it'll re-bound better and be easy to press.
