Lightbulb Ram Air Via Hood Scoop? 89 lxi 5 spd

    Whats up everyone.

I was wondering if anyones ever used the stock intake
up to the part of the tube where its connects to the baffle / wheel well. (just the plastic part off the filter box that bends and comes forward towards front of car before the rubber boots and other parts of intake plastic)

Can you take this, use a universal hood scoop, such as this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Honda...Q5fAccessories

    And make it ram air?

I would guess as long as everything is sealed nice (i might need to use some thin foam rubber or somthing to make it tight all over)

It should be functional cold air / ram air, correct?

    Has anyone done this?

Will I notice any kind of gain?

Car purrs at idle, has 135k, is taken care of and runs great.

Only other mod right now is a nice magnaflow muffler, I believe its stock other than that.

I plan on Pace setter headers / monza cat back if this a success, it should complement the ram air.

Is my logic skewed ? Will the stock ECU and injectors compensate?

The engine is only going to pull in as much air as it needs, so you won't notice anything appreciable from the intake by itself. Couple it with some other aspiration mods like you mentioned and you may make a little more power. Your ECU doesn't adjust to anything you put on the car, but you wouldn't make enough of a difference to warrant a new fuel map with intake / header / exhaust anyway.

Might as well, it'll look and sound cool and produce a small amount of power when the other parts are installed.

You would spend a lot of cash getting a ram air done right, just for the same effect as a CAI.

I don't know, it could look alright if he did it tastefully and had a kit to go with it.
    Big if though.
