    vintage paint job

    Hi guys

I just bought myself a 77mod Honda accord. The paint on it is poorlyl done and I've been thinking to repaint it.
I want to do a classic paint job, and restore it to an original color.
I was wondering if any had a color-chart /map, of what colors the accord (or other older models of Honda) were delivered in from shop.

Hope to get some pictures, or links!

    Thanks

welcome to the board. ...and congrats on the purchase.

Is that you behind the wheel? God I hope not, as you look WAY too tall for it. Looks like you're head is off to teh side so you don't smack it on the roof. haha. just playing, but that's a mean looking little hatch you got there.

    Hi you

My guesses are that the whole car is going to get a fresh coat of paint. It has a ding and a bad scratch down its rights side, doesn't look pretty, but the damage is shallow. Have to fix that, and the car has been repainted earlier, but they did really bad job

But no worries, me fix ;-)

Sweet, so what color were you thinking of doing? Personally I would keep it black, I think it looks good as-is.

I like the black too, but since I have to repaint it anyways I'm considering restoring it to an orginal color. Even though i didn't find any stock-color I liked. (yet)

    I'm open to suggestions though

I'm going to make an own tread soon, to keep you guys updated with the project as i go along

    Re: vintage paint job

    Curiously I have a German 1980 Accord brochure showing a black car (with a green/grey interior ! )

Though unfortunately no colour names/codes.... & couldn't see a black listed for 1980 in the other thread... Though I though the Prelude was offered in a metallic black in '79
Certainly never had such a combination offered in Australia... though colour choices ofter depended upon the importer.

Solid colours definitely easier/cheaper than metallics though they can be tempting.. I think the metallic blue was almost iconic on the first Accords.
We got a solid, very dark blue in 80/81 here. & also have another 1977/78 brochure with an unusual solid green we didn't get either that looked interesting
    (like -http://www.the-closeup.de/nipponklassik/fotos/36.htm),
but I can't see in the colour list either come to think of it.

I agree, keep it black. That's got to be one of the best unpainted first-gen Accords I've seen, if not the best. I'm excited to see the 'after' product.

I am sure the nomination is over but my personal choice are silver or red.
If it is black originally I might stick w black because of its rarity, though.
