    Re: Got her weighted

Not wanting to thread jack, but I weighed my a couple weeks ago as well. My hatchy weighs 2510 with me in it, and I weigh 165. So 2345lbs for a gutted hatchback.

    Re: Got her weighted

I believe it does. There's a post in the faq with all the weights of the different models. I was just posting to give an idea of what the weight savings are when you strip out all the sound deadening, and other crap. Should also mentioned that I weighed it with a full tank of gas since that's how I usually race.

    Re: Got her weighted

I have no idea what mine weighs, with the air gone, the lightweight battery, plus the black box gone, and all the factory carb stuff gone, even with what I've added, I think it will weigh less then stock. I forget what all the AC stuff together weighs, but it's a LOT. most of the parts i've made are made from lightweight aircraft aluminum alloy. Russian kid I sent you that battery tiedown, weighed less you thought didn't it? another thing i'll be doing is finding a really light oddball alloy for a spare, the steel wheels I got actually weigh less then a lot of alloy rims i've seen. a lot of late model steelies are really light. It lets them take weight out of the car for better fuel mileage. high strength lighter steel.

My 2g is 2140lbs, exactly the same as John's 1g. That was before I removed the a/c though. I need to get it weighed again now.

    Re: Got her weighted

the early hatchbacks also weigh less then the later ones, mostly due to manual windows, and there is more steel in the later ones, mostly because of new safety regulations that went into effect in late 87, thats also the reason they have the idiotic seatbelts.

so you mean that is a good thing or what? 80's cvpi didnt handle too bad for a fs car, they had fat ass sway bars and huge contol arms..
they are actually good choices for dirt track bomber cars, well if you can make one with a tweaked tune motor and tranny that actually still pulls.

but yes, I get it.. watching budget movies of the day that always show the caprices wiping out with oversteer, just as they switch cars from the original chase car (ford) that handle so well it plinked the hubcaps like tiddly winks without even spinning.
was this a rant? no not really just over caffeinated btw, the late eightys caprices were the shit too..not the crappy ones they started out with.

    Re: Got her weighted

I weighed mine at E-Town 2yrs ago and it was 2450 with me in it and half a tank of gas. so I am guessing it would be closer to 2250 w/o me and less gas

With a full tank, the emissions place said my coupe was like 2875 with either 117.9, 107.9, 97.9 or 87.9 horsepower. The first number(s) got cut off.
