    My roommates 86 LXI

    Ok everybody. This will be a thread about my roommate's 86 Accord LXI. We are working on getting this thing back on the road right now. A lot of work has already been done but I will post as more progress is made. Im too lazy to type a bunch of captions so I hope pics work! lol Car will be a daily driver so its remaining an auto. It will stay mostly stock, just minor mods. His 96 Accord is gonna be the bad ass of the two. Anyway PICS!

    Yea its been fun so far. Taking this car apart shows just how far ahead of the game Honda was at the time. Hell they still are really. The engineering in this car really is amazing.

    Well we actually got a little bit of work done over the past couple of weekends, I just havent had time to post them up here. We found a little bit of rust inside the gas filler door that I still need to fix permanently. I just have some zinc rich primer on it for now until I can get to it. We took the engine down to my uncles shop and got it ready to go back together as well. We are just waiting on the engine kit. Here are a few pics.









    The head is still down at the shop since I cant put it together at the house. I dont have the spring compressor to do it here. I was going to take pics at the shop but I forgot the camera

    Yes it was! it took a lot of degreaser and brake clean to get it looking reasonable

    We did get a little more done this weekend. Not as much as I had hoped but I was tired and assembling engines while tired is a bad idea!

    nice little rebuild, but I think you guys should have converted to 5spd for more reliability. keep up the good work though!

    Thanks man. Well hopefully the reliability will be fine. Trust me my roommate takes VERY GOOD care of his cars. Fluid changes will be done when needed and it is getting an external transmission cooler too just to help things out.

    OK some progress has been made. Not much really but we did get the bottom end of the engine put together. I had to go through two piston ring compressors before the third one worked! The rocker shaft assembly has also been cleaned and reassembled. Now we just need some new head bolts and oil pickup screen. We also got the garage into a less disastrous state lol
