    Elpuma's 88 hatch

These are some pics of the life of my baby girl. I've owned the car since like the end of my junior year in high school. Over the years I've put a lot of love into it.

Then i painted my car but i don't have any pics of it when i was sanding and stuff. I was inspired by a members paint job.

Here are a few pics of when i went to 3geez meet in Portland.

I got a flip up touch screen cd/dvd player. Took out the center and stuff to make it fit a lil nicer. I still have my heater working.

Worked on some custom turn signals and tail lights. I used the nite shades on the tail lights.

    Re: Elpuma's 88 hatch

I had lost my original temp sensor that goes in the radiator. I went to autozone but they pulled out the white one and i said no that not it but they insisted and i was like whatever. I put it into the drain hole of the civic radiator and it fit. I used the same connection i would of used for the other radiator sensor. So far i haven't had any problems using the sensor this way.

    Re: Elpuma's 88 hatch

Thanks guys. I appreciate the love.
My interior started off as too rice and now its just completely gutted. Then i painted the interior black and added black felt to the bottom half all around and put in a black carpet.

Import racer yea i have the map and idle sensors hooked up. I ran them inside the cabin behind the glove box. As for the secondary butterflies, yes they were hooked up to direct vacuum. But then i got a b16 intake manifold and got rid of them.

Hey man does it matter which wires go to the idle control module, what color are the wires, want to make sure it's hooked up right since it still idles really low at stop lights and is still idling rough.

Great idea. I have been looking into places to weld in an aluminum bung for that sensor. I never thought or using the drain bung. Ill have to see if the threads are the same on the aftermarket radiator I have as well. Just to be clear, you are using the TW sensor same as from the thermostat housing and not the radiator temperature sensor. My radiator currently sits a bit too high for my liking. I need to drop it down about 1/2in more so it clears the top cross bar that used to support the radiator.

    Re: Elpuma's 88 hatch

Import racer i'll get back to you tomorrow on the idle wires.

Mykwikcoupe yea thats the TW sensor. The radiator temp sensor wouldn't fit in cuz it was too big. I don't remember if the threads matched or not but it ended up working for me.

Well today I took the engine out because of the knock i started to hear about a month ago. Gonna try to find an ok block to put in. If i can find a whole engine at a good price then i'll buy that. The wet compression test i did put out 185 150 165 155. I was able to get 415,000 miles out of that engine though :-)

Finally got her running with a newer block :-). Happy to be going back to OSU with my car.

Some pics of the bearings out of my block. These are the worst ones out of the all.

    Re: Elpuma's 88 hatch

The polished valve cover that was passed down from rendon to me. This is the first one he polished but tapped wrong so i plugged it and tapped it up higher.

My catch can i made and painted gloss black to match the engine bay.

Then I found this filter on the dairy that they didn't need no more. I used this one as a catch can for my PCV system. I took the center parts out of it so it could flow better and got rid of the bottom orange part so i could keep a better eye on the can.

    Re: Elpuma's 88 hatch

Pics that i took of where the black box goes.

    (the block is upside down)

What I've concluded is that the oil pan tube that connects on the outside to the black box can be plugged. The hole in the back of the block can be tapped so you can run hose to a catch can. That piece in the first and third pic is pretty much a baffle for the hole in the back of the block.

Here's the car that was generous and donated her heart lol

    The heart an a20a1

Used this neat tool to remove the valves. All you do is hook it up to a compressor and press a button.

And here it is after pressing it. Makes it so easy to remove them.

    Got everything laid out.

So basically all i did over the christmas break was get a used block and made it match my old set up. My old block is back at home waiting to get rebuild someday in the future.
