Not worth the effort. If it is more than ten years old it's on borrowed time and rebuilt units never seem to last more than about three years in my experience.

DENSO Part # 4711201 from Rock Auto is $240, and it's a brand new compressor. You can find it here.

AC compressors are something I don't buy used nor remanufactured. Rebuild kits just don't exists for compressors anymore because it's more profitable to sell a whole compressor.

I bought a new Denso compressor from Rock Auto in 2010 - the one I am using now. Don't be tempted to save a few bucks with a rebuilt compressor. They're just never 100% right after that process.

    I'm from Israel ,
this kind of compressor doesn't axist here (my 3G is one of three that exist here) .
I went to auto shops and they couldn't recognize this compressor.
is it possible to fit another model ?

That looks like a good price. It's also closer to you, so you shouldn't have to wait as long as you would if you ordered from the US.

I posted the Rock Auto link because they're known for shipping worldwide, having good prices, and the best customer service I've experienced in years.

Which model of Vespa do you have? When you get a chance, you should post your vehicles in the Off Topic section. I'm particularly interested in the Vespa and the Zundapp.

Wow! If that is really a NEW (not rebuilt) Denso compressor that is a steal!

I wonder why anyone would pull a NEW compressor out of the box to paint it black.

Makes no sense to me. There are some aftermarket equivalent new compressors out there in addition to genuine Denso.

Re: ac compressor rebuild kit, exists?

I think we are saying that it may be a remanufactured compressor. Seems WAY too cheap to be a brand new one and the new ones are not painted - to cover up cosmetic wear. I only have limited experience with rebuilt compressors but neither of the two I replaced lasted longer than three years. Maybe this one is really new, or maybe you'll get lucky, but I have seen before where an eBay seller said something was "new," but really meant "new rebuilt."

New could also mean something along the lines of Rock Auto's closeout specials: a unit that got dropped off the back of the truck and kicked around the warehouse for a few years before getting dumped in a big auction.

Adrian, I'm not sure what your plans are for the car, but you might consider learning to fab in more readily available parts. It seems ridiculous for you to be scanning the globe for radiators and coolant reservoirs and paying big shipping charges when you could buy a universal fit unit and drill a couple holes in the bracketry to make it fit.

Re: ac compressor rebuild kit, exists?

It should arrive this week , I'll keep you updated.
    Dr Snooz,
you can count on it that I do build up things to fit my vehicles , but I don't want to fix a 30 years old radiator or a compressor. it won't last.
also , the time it'll take me to find a suitable radiator , also costs money and it will also waste my time .. and it's not fun (I mean I won't enjoy) to fabricate a radiator .. it's nor interesting.

my car is a one of a kind here in Israel , there are no more hatch 3geez here , there is a four door one (89) and an 87 Prelude. so I'm trying tu rebuild it to original spesifications and don't want it to look like a junkyard.. I've even turned it (it's a DX) into a full electric car , electric windows , central locking , electric antena etc..

Re: ac compressor rebuild kit, exists?

There are 3 compressors that came on 3gee accords
the original compressor on your vehicle is a Keihin compressor
the one you got looks like a nippondenso 10pa15e (correct for the vehicle)
the 3rd is a Nippondenso 10p15e, same bracket and hoses as 10pa15e, different manifold

The mounting brackets, manifolds, and hoses are different on the keihin, you will need to buy a rebuilt keihin and recharge with r12 (no 134) or get a Nippondenso 10p15e manifold, hoses, and bracket.

do you know wich compressor is better?
what do you mean by manifold?

    thanks

Re: ac compressor rebuild kit, exists?

10p15e and 10pa15e are better here in the US where r12 refrigerant is hard to come by.

The manifold is basically an adapter that the hoses screw into.
