might go from 13 to 14 inch rims

ok so today i was at the junk yard and they have a few integras that are about a 1990 or so and they all have the nice alloy rims. so im thinking of getting them. they are $25 each and also come with tires on each that are in ok shape. so you cant go wrong for $100 for all 4 rims. but my question is... i have stock 13 inch rims and the integra rims are 14 inch so how much would that affect my speedometer? or would i have to buy new tires that are a lower profile to match my 13 inch tire size? so what should i do?

thanks for any and all help

    they look like this

If I remember right it won't do anything.

It really only starts to mess with your mpg, and spedo when you get to the 16-17 range and up.
Yea for photoshop...No license plate. :3

Only if the tire diameter is different. Wheel size makes no difference, unless the wheels are mega heavy, and even then, that will be an unnoticeable impact.

A good thing to do considering there are fewer and fewer decent tires available in the 13" size.
    http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
Follow this link and put the tire size from your existing 13" tire (stock tire) and put the tire size from the new tires that come with the 14" rims in the new tire selector. It will visually and dimensionally show you the difference between your old and new tires.
Learn from the mistakes of others. You'll not live long enough to make them all yourself.

Re: might go from 13 to 14 inch rims

thanks everyone. i will have to go back and check what size tires the rims on them. i looked up the stock size of a 1990 integra which is 195/60-14 and the 1988 accord size is 185/70-13 so the tire thing on the miata.net it said my speedometer will be 0.1% to slow. so thats nothing. i just hope the tires on the rims at the junk yard are stock size.so i will go back in a day or so and check.

    Based upon pure mathematics and assuming these tire sizes;

    13" rim - 185/70 13
    14" rim - 195/60 14

The effective circumference of the wheel/tire assembly would change by less than 1/10 of one percent (a radius difference of only 0.2mm). So, as the others said, not enough to worry about.

You also have to consider the width of the wheel/tire. Skinner wheels get better gas mileage, but also nothing noticeable.

Re: might go from 13 to 14 inch rims

Only trouble is that we are quickly losing choices in the 14" market for tires. And, most of the cars with 13" wheels these days would either be ultra-cheap, or ultra-green. So, I think the best option, overall, is to go up to a 15" rim (15 x 6) and go with a 205/50 15. That probably represents the highest cost tire, but the choices in design would be much wider.

That is true, but I don't know how much, either. Wider and lower profile tires characteristically would have less grip in rain/snow. You need to determine what type of tire you need based upon where you drive and your road surfaces. In 22 years I have bought many sets of tires. The increasing traffic congestion in my area even affects what kind of tires I buy.

I still haven't found "tire nirvana," though. Still trying.

those rims are just fine, you won't have issues, I ran teg rims for years, as well as a number of other people here, I had the sawblades, about the same year, I believe the dimensions on those rims are identical to the factory 14 inch rims on the lxi

I wouldn't worry about the speedometer. If you have a GPS then go by that. If you don't have a GPS, then borrow one and you will probably find that your speedometer is off anyway. Mine shows 5 miles slower that it should with stock rims and tires. I am going to 14 rims because 13" tires are very hard to find.

I think 13 inch rims are coming back due to all the new tiny cars that are out,. they used to be hard to find, then I started seeing them more and more
