the car was probably an early model 1986

in 1986 they had bs and bt motors left over fromt he 1985s so they threw them in the early models

my accord hatch back engine says bt on it and doesnt say a20a3

so from the looks of it its a carbed car

but heres a link to rebuild kit

Except they were never in the 85 Accords. So they were only in the 86 Accords.

Nah. The SEi came with the ES3. The ES motors were what came in the 84-85 Accords in the US. The bottom end is basically a 1.8 liter A20, with a completely different intake port design on the head. The A20 has much better intake port setup.

i have seen this engine (bt-bs) in two other cars besides mine
one was a 1985 accord ... idk if it was stock but it sure looked stock to me
and the second car was a 1986 prelude

they both simply read bs for the accord
    and bt for the prelude

and mine is a hatchback 1986 early vin number with a bt engine

Yeah the Prelude makes sense. This 85 Accord you saw, was it a 3rd gen? It was probably mislabeled. 86 was the first year of the 3rd gen, and the Accords get mis-labeled all the time. 85 was still a 2nd Gen, and I guarantee they never came with a BS or A20 in them. If someone were to put a BS in a 2nd gen, it would probably look pretty stock, they drop in with very little work.

Yeah it was a 2nd gen hatch I know the difference that's why I was puzzled lol

It looked like it was there for atleast 20 years I'm thinking someone bought the car brand new and swapped it cause it had some after. Market find and spoiler on it
