Question where can i find the things i need?

ok so ive had my 88 accord coupe for almost a year now and have been planning and thinking and considering.

originally i planned to try and do an H22 or B-series swap, but I thought, that's been done so much, I'd rather build my a-series up.

So that's what I wanna do.

here are my plans. What I need to know is, where can I find the parts i want and how much are they gonna run me?

CAI or SRI (I'm not sure which to go with in this case. If the CAI has a large enough advantage I'd be willing to spend the money, but I gotta know how much of an advantage I'd have.)
    New Pulleys
    New Valvetrain
    Short Throw Shifter
    New 3rd, 4th, and 5th gears.
    New Head Bolts
    Injectors and Fuel Pump
Fuel Rail and Fuel Pressure Regulator
    Radiator
    Engine Management/ECU
New Peformance Brake Pads and Rear Brake Disc Conversion(I need more info about the rear disc conversion too. how hard/expensive would it be.)
New Strut Bars, Shocks, And Springs.

Here's some stuff I already Have picked out, it's just a matter if getting paid before I can buy.
    NGK wires and Plugs
    Pacesetter Exhaust and Headers
    Hollow CC
    Oil Breather
My uncle builds cars and me and him are gonna do a port and polish sometime down the line.
And eventually, Ima Strip the interior except for some seats and a cage.

Also, I've heard I can bolt a B-series intake Manifold onto my car. true?

i know theres no way to know exactly, but I'd like to end up somewhere in the 150-180 range.

    First welcome to this board.
Second, use search button and you will find all your answers.
Third, if you are going NA build you better have deep pockets to get into 150-180 whp zone. Only a few people were be able to get past 140whp mark on EFI car without boost. the engine was one of a kind build, and he spent a lot of time a money.
If you want power, rebuild your engine and turbo. on 8psi of boost you can have 160-180 whp with poor tune car.

like i said, use search button and you will find all kinds of answers.

PS, there are no aftermarket ECU for our cars. nothing you can plug in and run.
    Alex.

welcome to the site, but um i think you need to research a little, first off the h22 swap has rarely been done, mayby 3 running ones right now and vectors working on the forth, and mayby 20-30 B16/18 cars running and then another handfull of running B20A's (the japan motor for these cars) , NA build is going to be hard to get that power but it can be done, openloops car proves that, but for the best bang for buck id look into turbo. good luck and search around and do some reading though

Re: where can i find the things i need?

the b and h swap hasent been done as much as u think lol mater of fact the only h swap that ive seen done was on a race car that dident have the original frame anymore just the shell of a 3g

but for ecu work ur gona have to do a obd-1 swap search the info is there

as far as gears go find a 2nd gen teg and strip the 1st through 4th gears out of it leaving hte stock 5th in place also search for that the info is there

rear disk conversion ur gona have to find a sei in a jy somewhere and strip that search the info is there

and to be honest everything u ask about has been covered u just have to search

heres a link to the search page

Re: where can i find the things i need?

CAI or SRI - Either go with a short ram or a CAI with a bypass filter. Personally I would start out with a short ram, because they are extremely inexpensive, and still worth having. Always good to have a shortram setup to fall back on if you want to ditch your CAI for any reason (weather, battery issues, etc)... Short ram should run you about $50 no more than that. CAI maybe $80 depending on what you buy, but DONT forget the bypass valve.

New Pulleys - will have to be custom made, unorthodox can do this for you, or talk to guynabo89, he has a machinist capable of this. Beware custom machined pullies are NOT CHEAP ($200+ each pulley I would guess).

New Valvetrain - Talk to SI Valves and see what they can do. Price: $toomuch

Short Throw Shifter - Maybe they still make the pacesetter adjustable shifter. $75 if you can find one?

New 3rd, 4th, and 5th gears. - Yeah just go find a teg tranny and swap the guts into your accord housing. less than $100 if you get a junkyard tranny probably.

New Head Bolts - why? honda oem, or arp for a mazda miata 2.0L, $130

Injectors and Fuel Pump don't bother unless you are boosting. $100 for a walbro, $250 for some cheap injectors on ebay, $500 for a nice set of injectors.

Fuel Rail and Fuel Pressure Regulator - again, why? if you insist, get a b series intake manifold, and then b-series aftermarket rail and regulator, cost for all 3? $400 ish.

Radiator Civic half wide rad, or 90-93 teg rads are both good choices depending on why you want the rad. $100-$300.

Engine Management/ECU - tooooootally depends what you want to do. I will say $500-$4000.

New Peformance Brake Pads and Rear Brake Disc Conversion - you already have the good front brakes. So for a nice set of pads, some lines, and new rotors you are probably looking at $350. The rear conversion I will let you research, but plan on at least $250 plus rebuild costs just to get the stock stuff in there working.

New Strut Bars - ebay and hack the ends to make them fit...$?

Shocks - depends how creative you want to get, and how much you want to spend. and why you are getting them. could range from $200-$1000 if you want fancy revalved konis.

Springs. - probably $100-$250 depending on what you get.

Good luck with the car. The consensus on this forum for the most part is that NA a20 setups are generally not a great bang for the buck. If you really want to bother with a nice fast car, you HAVE to look into a swap of some sort, or boost your a20, which seems to be a popular option lately.

Re: where can i find the things i need?

Well don't forget Hot bits does a fully adjustable setup for your cars and they can customize there stuff as well with strut tops, 1/2 way damping adjustments.
Also You could go ITB's or Twin Weber sidedraughts if you wanted power and to be different. Costs a bit of money but when you hear a car on ITB's or Racing carbs you'll be seduced for ever!! I didn't find it to hard to get 170whp from A series and had a stock rebuilt blueprinted block, you just need to be good at headwork, get a good camshaft, and have it tuned properly!!

Re: where can i find the things i need?

if i were you, i'd snag one of the dc sports headers that are for sale right now if they aren't already spoken for. other than that, there's not much i can add. get an ebay cai and be done with it. that's $40 tops. you'll have to find rear disks in the jy on your own. there were two sets in my local jy about two months ago, but lack of interest and the extreme cost of shipping makes them usually less appealing so i only grabbed one entire one. it's sitting in my garage.
