In my opinion, put your money to better use. For example, fix any issues you may have with the car. Do a tune up. Things like that are far more important than an exhaust. We've all been through your stage in the "car life", you will look back and think why did you do that.

get a cherry bomb sounds much better
im not saying your a ricer becuase of you age or anything. Im just saying i would think anybody that knows anything about cars would know that straight piping a honda is going to make it too fucking loud. You need some kind of muffler. or your going to get a ticket.
a cherry bomb is like $26. buy that and some pipe and if you dont have a welder just get some clamps and rig it up somehow. It might leak but it will sound better then straight piping.
Make the car run better first. (tune up and junk) then worry about the exhaust. You should just save. buy a muffler and a glasspack and take it to a muffler shop and have them weld it up

honestly man if you only have that much money why don't you spend it on something more important on the car like a oil change or get new plugs, or buy some gas. your not going to achieve anything by cutting the muffler off besides sounding like crap, and maybe getting pulled over by the cops and having to pay tickets.
thanks mkymonkey
You do know that there is more on the exhaust besides just the muffler. every post says cutting off the muffler and clamping it back on. You have the cat and resonator. as well as the muffler.
If you just cut the muffler off it will sound okish. not to loud but not that deep.
Straight piping means you have nothing but pipe from the header to the back of the car. and im sorry but $20 is not going to buy all that pipe.

...If you're ever confused about anything in life... it probably has something to do with money$...
if your plan on runnin turbo get a 3in. straight pipe! if you plan on keeping it naturally aspirated go for 2 1/4'' to 2 1/2''! call around for prices is shudnt kost that much-try to find a shop that has "mandrel" pipe bender or yule end up with some shittteee bends that restrict flow, i think the stock 3g has this shittteee piping ??? i havent looked under her skirt lately. search the "archive" 4 other mods and keep us posted!

i had a magna flow cat back exhaust. it was 2.5 from cat back. it was nice and sounded good. i then cut out the stock resonator , right behind the cat. then i welded in a cherry bomb right there.. and i took off the magna flow muffler and put a cheap ass round straight thru muffler on it. i liked the look of the cheapo better, thats why. with out the cherry bomb the cheap muffler would be shitty soundin and loud as hell. but with cherry bomb and the cheap muffler withh 2.5 pipe. it sounds awesome.. has a different more meaner powerful sound. and its quieter than my magna flow too but sounds good .thhe str8 pipe will drive u nuts. loud as fuck . and u will geet mass tickets. it does sound like nascar or dragcar.or monster truck in mcdonalds parking lot..lol
Someone should get an A20 exhaust flange and build an exhaust with 4 pipes that come straight out the hood, that would be sweet!!!

when I see a loud honda and I can hear it and tell it is not anything special it annoys the crap out of me to think that could be me and my big ole 6'5" bobble head noggin sticking up outta the seat ... i never thought my car was that loud and it did have a much different sound than any other honda, sounded more like a vw bug. It was loud, but the new set up should be more teggy sounding. NA ,B20A jdm, big 38 weber carb, header, 26 inch cherry bomb , 2.5 inch pipe to a non streight thru muffler that flows good, not sure which one yet, then a 3 inch resonator tip.

You know what I say about it? Who cares what everybody else thinks. Fuck em. If you wanna do a straight pipe, and you enjoy it and makes your day enjoyable every time you get in your car, you should do it and fuck everybody else. If you do it, and you don't like it, change it until you're happy. That's what it's all about.

the forum just we_t retarded o_ me, wtf who did that?
What is going on?
k so I get some exhaust extension pipe, and an exhaust clamp, cut off my muffler nd clamp the pipe on?
what size pipe should I get and what size clamp? my car has a stock exhaust so im sure its the same size as other peoples 88 lxi. I was thinkin 2 1/4 piping and the closest exhaust clamp I could find was 2 1/8
EDIT: ended up getting some 2.5" pipe, 2.5" exhaust clamp, hack saw, total came out to $13.
I dont wanna go full straight pipe, just get rid of the muffler and straight exhaust all the way back out the car.

As far as I know, the car has somewhere between 1 3/4 to 2" pipe. You would have been better off to determine this before you bought anything.
A reducer is simply a short section of pipe designed to adapt between pipes of different diameters. Turn the reducer around and it suddenly becomes an increaser.
You would use it to adapt the silly 2.5" pipe to whatever size the existing system is.
