revival of an old sei rim

i got a set of old sei rims. i want to renew them so i can throw them on my coupe for now. i brought some stuff from work to strip the finish off them. i wire brushed it for a while getting all the clear coat off and getting the paint off the holes. then i started wet sanding with some 100 grits sand paper. i know its kina harsh but i need to get deep into the rim. ill start using some finer girt paper soon. i may use my air powered air brush on it in the moring, i have a few stubborn spots. any1 have any suggestions on something that will get these "black" spots off the rims?

the before pic. (not the same rim but they looked exactly the same.

Dang, that's looking a lot nicer. It should look real nice when you're done. I didn't know you could clean a wheel up that good.

    Nice job.
You should definitely try to find some centercaps someplace, though.

Of course I'm lazy. If I wanted to work on my car I'd have gotten a DSM

Re: revival of an old sei rim

I've contemplated doing this... my one set of se-i rims looks pretty damn good, but the tires are done, and the other set that i;m using right now has marginal tires lol, but the condition of the wheels sucks... I should give this a go on the weekend.

wow dude a whole day of work payed off... the rim looks good. the only thing that kinda sucks for you is that it took you a whole day to do it. but keep working at it and you will get what you want.

my project for today was to put on that damn rear lower tie bar i got and well...it did not go too good.

    anyway back on topic....

Hey, at least he didn't have to pay for 'em.
It's that much more satisfying when you're done, too.

Damn, that looks really good, keep up the good work, and post pics after you've finished them and have them on your car!
