    Repainted the Valve Cover

Well, before I swapped the B20A, I stripped the valve cover and painted it to match the car color (Laurel Blue).

However, the cheap Duplicolor clear I used turned yellow in a matter of weeks after I ran the engine

I decided today that I would restrip the paint on it and just redo the cover. This time I used the VHT Flameproof 1500F clear coat. This clear is supposed to last the temperature of a manifold, this will be perfect for a much colder valve cover.

Here's what it looks like now.

I need to sand down the letters and logo on the cover and remove the paint around the oil cap and bolts.

I think it turned out pretty nice. Only time will tell if this one will turn yellowish again. So far the VHT stuff has been more than good to me so I'm confident.

You could use an angle grinder and remove most of the aluminium on the logo and then use a dremel to make it smooth.

Aluminium is pretty soft so it shouldn't be that hard to do.

However, since B20As are rare here. I'm keeping it that way

    Re: Repainted the Valve Cover

Yeah I did remove the original paint on the cover, it was pretty nasty when I got the engine. There were a few marks on the cover too that I filled and sanded off.

I'll let it dry for a day or 2 then take pictures on the whole enginebay with the new cover

get a wide 10"-12" long metal file/rasp those work better on aluminum and it's easier to make things even. then get some sand paper or a finer file for finishing.

Wash you engine with a regular hose and use lots of simple green or purple power. Looks better than a "hazardous" pressure wash.
