i dont think you're gonna hear anyone say automatic is better unless they use it for a daily driver or something where it's a pita to have to shift

    Re: auto vs man

tough call, my 3gen is auto and I love it but just hate all the torque it sucks up sometimes, and with the Weber, It is like a Harley...I am always having to tune it to the current conditions and then every time I tune the carb-the automatic's T valve cable gets a little turn too, every little bit of change in throttle opening vs load vs speed , changes the shiift point. We just have too much varience in temp conditions in my state.

My Civic is a 5 speed, I also love it but yea it is a PITA in heavy traffic, or while multitasking in the drivers seat , I sort of wish I could swap them sometimes

I would prefer a manual. I drive one everyday, and i love it. When driving an auto i feel like i do not have control over the car. I just have control on where it goes.

Manual for me. They typically last longer, move the car faster, get better gas mileage, and make the car more fun to drive. I don't drive in traffic that much, but even when I do, I have no problem using the clutch.

I would want an automatic only if the engine has 6 or more cylinders.
The clutch pedal on the Accord is so light that nobody should be complaining about having to use your left foot. My Corolla's clutch pedal is twice as heavy as the Accord; now that's work in a traffic jam. I've heard some older cars, like BMW's, have even heavier clutches.

I agree with you. I dont think I could stand a 4-cylinder automatic. There's no fun in that. I think my car has the lightest clutch out of any stick car I've driven, and that ranges from other Honda's to Ford F-350's, which I think had the heaviest clutch that I've felt. That, or a Mustang GT.

Well I prefer manual, I had a 99 Camry that was auto and it was so boring I sold it. Driving my 68 GMC pickup in traffic sucks, its a workout pressing that clutch, not to mention the all around drum brakes. My Honda is no problem for me in heavy traffic though, I don't even really think about it in my Accord.

Manual all the way for fun to drive factor. I've driven 3 Cylinder Geo Metros(no I've never owned one) that were still a blast because of a manual transmission.

    Re: auto vs man

Im not really to concerned about how hard the clutch pedal is or anything like that. My deal is, in heavy or even moderate traffic on hilly areas especially, there never seems to be a gear that suits the flow of traffic (or that A hole in front of me) So I have to keep slipping on the clutch, is it first or is it second, no first, now second, DAM they stopped again for a green light
I hate feeling the throw out bearing , clutch disc, hell everything,...wearing out unneccessarily....

Manual FTW. I'm shopping for a 3G and I won't even consider an automatic. My BMW is auto, there is no manual option. However I found that a local performance shop can convert it to manual, I'm looking forward to that Just gotta save quite a bit (they said about $8k). Ouch.

well honda did give us 5 gears to pick from... if you have a good clutch it should not slip. plus our engine have lots of toque....i can take off in 2nd gear easy.

    This.

I prefer my wife to have an automatic though... she's bad enough at driving already.

Too much damn traffic and too many damn traffic lights around here. A five-speed would be fun, but for me it would get old really fast.

That's my situation too. I would love to drive a manual rather than an automatic, but realistically it would be ridiculous to drive a manual since I do mostly only city driving. A manual would get annoying.
