thanks to ghettogeddy for the photoshop, these are the closest wheels i could get to mine. only difference is i am using the tires with raised white letters. very big in the eighies. thats an old school look.![]()
The wheel came out looking good bro....glad to see something different. Would you consider doing another set?
what do you need me to do? i think the center could be made bigger with a flap wheel on an air grinder, i just have the use of the lathe handy. as far as the paint it's a do it yourself thing. it would be much eaisier and cheaper for you to do it then to pay shipping both ways for 4 wheels. if you were local i would be able to help you much eaisier.
^Yeah its better to do it on a lathe anyway. If you dont, you have to be very careful not to remove too much metal in one spot or the wheel will be out of balance.

I was just wondering lost, but I did talk to a buddie that has a set just like that, and I called the local fab shop and the said it's like $25.00 a wheel to get it machined down, so I guess i'll just try and get a set of integra mesh wheels....
there is so little metal that has to be removed that i think you could do it yourself without affecting the balance. it's right near the center so it doesn't have an imbalance way out on the rim, i mean it's a very small amount. once you did it having the wheel balanced anyway would solve any balance problems. if you were local i would do it for you no charge, but the shipping to send them back and forth would be pretty high.
ok more is done, i had to end up going from 1.065 to 2.010 as far as the machining. ended up needing more then i though initially. here is the first one bored out.
this is the complete lathe adaptor
one wheel done
still needs more coats of paint ,but the machine work is done.

oh the wierd double exposure effect is caused by the fact the camera is in a box with a lexan plate, the reflections off of the lexan plate are what appears in the back ground, you can actually see the inside of the box if you look close. i normally close the back of it but left it open in this case.

2004-2011?
thanks, that duplicolor wheel paint is so tough i've had to hand sand it off the lip, then polish it back up, it's almost like powder coat in a can. going to possibly go and look for two more this wekend. shouldn't be hard to find, just have to get the time to do it. i was really concerned about the wheel holder coming out of the lathe, but it held, thats a LOT of inertia spinning right there. i've seen pieces of thin wall tube fly out of there and bounce off the backstop. little bit nerve racking.
