what do you guy think about the placement?

I am not married to the placement, but so far this is the best fit without making the the charge pipes too long.

I could go the way everybody else does but, I don't like the turbo right behind the radiator.
If thats the best way to go convince me.

eh, I mainly have mine the way i do cuz of the DP placement and the charge pipe off the turbo faces a weird way. (not straight down like its supposed to, it hits my hood latch bracket)

yeah, I'll be waiting on flanges so I may see if i can find a different compressor housing. So far it's not bad. The bend allows for the turbo to get around radiator with 3 inch charge pipe.
I would rather not have 2 bends right at the turbo.

im getting the same turbo here in a week or so. but the one im getting is a straight snout with a vband style lip which im going ti grind off the lip so i can run a cupler over it. You have the hx40 correct. maybe getting a hx35 comp housing.

Sadly It is not a hx40. My conversation with the seller led me to belive it was a he351 whitch i would be very happy with. It ended up being a Hy35.
I figure I'll try it, for now. Maybe.. I still might sell it on ebay.
I have been looking fo a different housing but nothing yet.

From what i read it will hold it's own at 450hp so i don't know.

hy35 will support 450+hp but ive never seen another compressor housing than the one you have as far as the compressor outlet orientation... still a nice turbo though. Can you cut and re weld the compressor outlet to have it point in a different direction or is that too much work? you might be better off with an hx35 with its bigger twin scroll turbine... the hy35 9cm turbine housing is a bit on the small side, spools fast but becomes restrictive at high boost. what are your goals jerry? An HX40 might be a bit on the large side...

I want 600hp, will i get it? not with this turbo. I may get it with a hx, but that will mean holding out longer. The best I'd get with the 60-1 is 480-490hp with the larger exhaust housing, and will run out at about 25psi. The hy can run 30-35psi but may run out on the top end also.
I am running the fi tranny with shorter gears than the carb tranny. So I am hoping for a wash of sorts.
    what do you think?

I don't even know how the cam is going to act so It's all up in the air till then.

    Re: getting started again. 89T

The 60-1 is an older design, good, but there are more efficient turbos out there, and the HY wont cut it due to the restrictive exhaust housing, so you might be fine with somthing as big as an HX40, or GT35R, or a Precision SC61-S trim (the SC61S has a similar compressor section as a GT35R without ball bearings or without the extreme cost for that matter) so a turbo change is inevitable for 600hp. I recall a 5G accord with a built H22 making like 620whp with a GT42R or GT40R turbo, im not really sure which. At this point I really wouldnt worry about going real short with the gearing, with the longer final drive youll be in boost longer and putting more load on the engine which can help with spooling up a big turbo.. but really either tranny is fine. If it makes a difference to you i have an lx-dx tranny in my car now instead of my old lxi trans.
