    Intake question

I was wondering for all you guys out there with rigged CAI's, whats the deal with all the vacuum lines/sensor(or at least I think its a sensor) on the filter housing? I really wanna get on making my own, but I wanted to clarify wtf is going on under there first and where it all needs to be lol. Thanks.

    Re: Intake question

Trust me, Ive seen them all already lol. None of them help with the vacuum line question though. Im already aware of the breather tube from the valve cover to the intake, and then the other one thats near it. I just wanted to know about the third one going to the right side of the filter housing. Im pretty sure its another vacuum line, but what I need to do with it is what Im tryin' to figure out. (I promise I always search before I post =P)

    Re: Intake question

its an auto? i had that on my 86and87 auto's don't know what it does but this is it right? two hoses?

left my good cam at work this is a security cam/web cam

O.K. got it i looked on the hood in my living room (87) the bottom hose goes to the idle control solenoid, the top one goes to the idle up solenoid, so they're there for idle. i'd suggest not hooking up the hose from the valve cover and hook it in there with a short piece of hose. just put a filter on the valve cover hose and run it away from the engine somewhere

    Re: Intake question

Its 5 speed, but yeah thats exactly what I was talking about. Should I just let them chill somewhere safe? Im guessing it will affect how the car runs if I dont do the right thing with them.(once again sorry about the whole searching thing, I just wanted to hear it for myself cause I couldnt find it myself.)

Thanks a ton guys, I appreciate it

    Re: Intake question

take that box off the filter holder and hook it up somewhere else on the intake before the throttle body. or you could do it the easy way and just leave the box there without the filter and add your cai to it,but if your gonna do something why not go all the way.also gives you more room to work behind the engine to(oil filter/alt removal)
    And yeah two hoods actually

One from part car one from wrecked

    Re: Intake question

i know what your taking about. you can just let them float free nothings going to happen. plug them up if you want. but if you dont really know if you want to plug them or not... get an extra vacumume line from the auto parts store for like less than 1.00 a foot and a T-fitting an join it with another vacume line. but for the most part it isnt herting nothing as far as im concern.

++++( some extra shit). if you disconnect the vacume lines from the intake while the car is running the idle doesnt change nor does the cars responce. LET"EM HANG

    Re: Intake question

They are meant to be hooked up for a reason, or else the little japanese people wouldn't have made it that way. Looky here and quit asking repetitive questions ->

    Re: Intake question

Notice how on all of the CAI diy writeups, there is ONE hole for vacuum which I am very aware of(breather tube to valvetrain) they have nothing involving the vacuum lines I am asking about. Demon answered the question I hate to be "repetitive" but when it comes to my car functioning properly I am going to be thorough. </end rant> Sorry I am a noob DX user and saying this lol.
