Water to air is pretty effective but IDK. like guaynabo said it will be a pain to get it all worked out. So why would you want to do that anyway? something wrong with you old setup? or is it just that since your engiine is pulled out you taught of it and wanted to do it? LOL 21 questions here. but im liking the gloss black thou

It is pretty nice to get to work on it. Working on my car is my only stress relief..
that's probably why it will never be done.

Well Rendon, the packaging of A 1000 hp water/air intercooler is a hell of alot smaller than that of a 650 hp air/air. lol.

My tuner seems to think we will max out at around 480-500 hp with that turbo and 1000-1200cc injectors. So I was looking for a solution. I just may max out what i have and then build it up from there. It will give me more time to figure out what i want. I have been looking for an air/air but the problem is that we are limited on space.

I got the idea of the gloss black engine compartment with the flat black body on new years eve in a thread that never caught on. well it did it's job, Cubert posted some pics of his ride.lol, I was drunk.

After seeing how it was coming out, I decided to repaint the whole car gloss black. I will probably paint it this weekend.

Also you guy's can ask what ever you like. It does not bother me a bit.
1 question or 21 questions it's all good.

I'll tell you guy's straight up, I am no pro-anything all i am is a guy who wants to learn and will take the chance on screwing something up to learn..

Air to water is very efficient for intercooling but for a street car its a hassle imo. Air to air is much larger for the same power level but each setup has its pros and cons, both are effective if set up properly. Have you considered going to a different core like this one? Vertical type cores flow more and have less pressure drop across them, and cool just about as well as horizontal type cores, Ive seen data that suggests that over 90% of all cooling occurs in the first 5-6" in of the core anyway... Not sure if this helps but its somthing to consider, it might flow enough to make the power you want and its a bit more compact in some dimensions than other fmics....

I looked at the intercooler you pointed out, but this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/godsp...Q5fAccessories
would work out better for the mounting direction of my turbo.
I have heard that the vertical flow intercooler is more efficiant than the standard horizontal flow. I have time to ponder the delema, my cam and springs wont ship till at least 2/17/10. bisimoto is closed till the feb 2nd.
I must say my little johnyracecar intercooler held up nicely the last time we were on the dyno. lol.

I have to worry about the injectors before the intercooler.
edit: you can never think 2 far ahead.

I want to make the D series show down and IFO in pueblo, but f**ck I'll get 0 real seat time.

yeah i know what you mean. Im running a JRC 8" and im not sure exactly how much power itll support but it is a nice piece. My old custom coach fmic was very nice too. The vertical cores usually have a shorter path for the air to flow, so pressure losses are lower. Eventually, i might upgrade to one but for now ill stick with what i got.

I got a precision 350. bad move on my part. it was maxed out first time out.

get the biggest most efficient one you can get. that way when it comes time to step it up you wont have to replace.

dont go overly large though. if your goal is 450 hp dont get an intercooler with 1000 rated hp and like 3 1/2 - 4" inlet/outlets. Lol

how was it maxed out? I think we have a similar biuld except well yours is done and mines on the shelf in the garage still. I have a precision 3x8x26. Not sure what it was rated anymore its been so long. Yours would heat soak that quickly?

for some reason we were loging 20 degrees cooler than ambiant at 14 psi. with the jrc and the cts was weirdly stable for some reason..

he tuned my buddy's d16y8 before mine and mine stayed 20 degrees cooler after 4 runs and 4 psi difference. His intercooler was 2X the size of mine.

    I was buzzed last night.

I did not want to post all that till i was puttin it in. oh well.

I was going to try and paint the car this weekend but it seem's i have to work tomarrow.
that water/air intercooler is bad ass. all i need are the lines and a pump.

the cam and springs should be on the way back next week, so i am super pumped.
I removed the 70mm tb i had and opted for a omni 70mm tb for a better fit.

I do need to get new ic pipe and t bolt clamps.

my top mount may come up for sale here pretty soon. my 60-1 stage 3 housing wont fit.

That sucks... Thats why i sold my first mani, the comp housing was too big on the new turbo and wouldnt fit!! How much are you off by? Can you space out the flange a little bit or somthing? Top Mount>*

well when i built the mani i used a stock t-bird exhaust housing with the 60-1 compressor housing to fit it.

for some reason both the stage 3 garrett housings i have (4 bolt and a 5 bolt ) shift the compressor towards the runners.so the compressor is hitting the #1 runner..
I can probably cut all 4 runners and add like 1 inch of pipe to each runner and make it work.

On the other hand it would give someone a chance to get another turbo a20 on the road.

I am also looking for a biger turbo so i may have to build another one anyways.

    LOL! I am just kidding...

I am going to try the 4" downpipe, then transition it to 3" for the street. I set the 90 there and thought that it would be funny to post it.

I was going to get a pic of the cam with my camera but it was dead.

Are you going to try and run the 4" under the oil pan or you going to transition after the 90?

I am going to try and run it under the oil pan. Then transition to the 3".
3" fits fine, but 4" is another animal in it's self.

I will build another manifold for the holset, I am thinking Of something shorter and easier to make.

Camshaft and springs are in, and i was working on installing the arp studs when my lil blondy asked me to come inside and hang out with her.

I was hopeing to get the engine back together and ready to go back in the car for tommarrow. I need to rework the driver side and rear mounts, and after that comes a new manifold.
